On the July 17th, Global Governance and Sustainable Development of Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Responses forum at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, the first issue of Global AI Innovative Governance, hosted by the Center for Global AI Innovative Governance and published by Shanghai People's Publishing House, is officially released.
As the first issue of this periodical, it features a foreword titled Advancing Research on Global AI Innovation Governance in the Intelligent Era written by Jin Li, President of Fudan University, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Director of the Center for Global AI Innovative Governance. In the foreword, President Jin Li proposes that the periodical will adhere to four fundamental orientations: first, integrating a global perspective with China's subjectivity; second, combining theoretical innovation with policy contributions; third, fostering interdisciplinary integration with a problem-oriented approach; and fourth, promoting open exchanges alongside the development of an academic community.
This also means that Global AI Innovative Governance is not merely a platform for publishing papers, but also aspires to serve as a key venue for continuous issue identification, knowledge accumulation, rule deliberation and intellectual exchange in the field of AI governance.
This serial publication is edited by Professor Chen Zhimin, Executive Director of the Global AI Governance and Innovation Center and Vice President of Fudan University, and co-edited by Professor Cai Cuihong, Deputy Director of the Global AI Governance and Innovation Center and the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University. It emphasizes academic depth, policy relevance, international perspective and interdisciplinary integration. The first issue is structured around three sections: Pattern and Framework, Actors and Pathways, and Issues and Rules, focusing on cutting-edge topics including United Nations AI governance, the role of international organizations, the EU AI Act, the Global South, data security, and the identification of AI-generated content.
This serial publication aims to go beyond simply tracking technological hotspots and policy trends, and conducts in-depth discussions on issues such as how artificial intelligence reshapes global governance and how China can participate in the global AI governance process in a more constructive manner from the perspectives of institutional logic, power structure, governance subjects and rule evolution, so as to contribute intellectual strength to a more just, inclusive, secure and sustainable global governance in the intelligent era.
Meanwhile, we continue to invite submissions from experts and scholars in China and abroad, with the aim of promoting high-level research characterized by academic originality and international theoretical vision. The second issue is currently open for submissions, with a deadline of August 30, 2026. The call for papers will remain open on a rolling basis, and manuscripts will be received and reviewed continuously, with priority given to high-quality submissions for inclusion in upcoming publication schedules.
