On September 8, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning chaired a regular press conference.
Beijing Youth Daily: We have noticed that a new session of the AI capacity-building seminar hosted by China has opened in Beijing. Could the spokesperson provide more details about the seminar? How does China view the issue of AI capacity building?
Mao Ning: At the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance, President Xi Jinping announced that over the next five years, China would provide 5,000 training opportunities on AI-related topics for developing countries. To implement this major initiative at the earliest opportunity, China is hosting a new session of the AI Capacity-Building Seminar at Peking University in Beijing from September 7 to 12.
China continues to promote the implementation of the AI Capacity-Building for All Initiative, and is enhancing access to technology and services through measures such as establishing the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, with the aim of helping countries of the Global South find AI development paths suited to their national needs. We stand ready to work with all parties to ensure that AI generates sustained value and becomes an important driving force for advancing the well-being of all humanity.
