Center News | Dr. Zhang Hongjiang Visits the Center for Global AI Innovative Governance

On the morning of September 10, 2025, Dr. Hong Jiang Zhang, Investment Partner at Source Code Capital and Foreign Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, visited the Center for Global AI Innovative Governance.

The roundtable discussion brought together distinguished scholars and industry experts, including:

·Professor Cai Cuihong, Researcher at the Center and Professor at the Institute of International Studies, Fudan University;

·Professor Xu Duoqi, Researcher at the Center and Director of the Digital Economy Law Research Center, Fudan University;

·Professor Zhang Yi, Executive Vice Dean of the Institute of Development Studies, Fudan University;

·Ms. Xu Qi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Industry Association (SAIIA);

·Ms. Yin Yuwei, Director of the AI Governance Department at SAIIA.

The session was moderated by Researcher Jiang Changjian of the Center. Members of the Center's research team also participated in the exchange.

At the meeting, Researcher Jiang Changjian and Dean Zhang Yi briefed the attendees on the background and future direction of the Center, as well as the recent progress of the Institute of Development Studies in think tank development.

Dr. Zhang Hongjiang focused his remarks on the latest developments and challenges in AI technology. Drawing from the industry's evolution, he shared his insights on core technological trajectories, Agentic AI and the Agent Economy, as well as the risks associated with AGI.

Professors Cai Cuihong and Xu Duoqi, along with Ms. Xu Qi and Ms. Yin Yuwei, engaged in a lively exchange with Dr. Zhang on a wide range of topics. These included global AI governance, the robot tax, the judiciary's balancing act between data supply and AI industries, model control amid AI existential risks, and the challenges of AI industry globalization.

The Center for Global AI Innovative Governance was officially launched at the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. Anchored by Fudan University’s expertise in global AI governance and interdisciplinary research, the Center aims to bridge Shanghai, China, and the world through a multi-faceted approach: organizing high-level forums and joint research; fostering talent development, youth exchange, and AI4S applications; and facilitating technology transfer. Its mission is to promote the formulation of governance rules and capacity building, contributing to a globally accepted framework for AI governance.
