On December 15, 2025, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), in coordination with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the General Services Administration (GSA), the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), and leaders from across government agencies, announced the launch of the U.S. Tech Force.

This marks yet another cross-governmental initiative in the artificial intelligence field, following a series of strategic moves such as the Genesis Mission and the executive order Ensuring the Development of a National Artificial Intelligence Policy Framework. The Trump administration’s move aims to recruit top engineers, data scientists, and technology leaders into public service. By partnering with leading tech companies to deliver world-class technical training, it seeks to help the federal government tackle complex, large-scale challenges, accelerate AI adoption across government agencies, modernize systems, strengthen public services and national security, and promote talent mobility between the public and private sectors—all to solidify the U.S.’s global leadership in AI. This signals a shift in how the U.S. builds its AI talent ecosystem, with a vision to secure its leadership in artificial intelligence through a high-caliber tech talent model.
