CGAIG Invited to Participate UNIDIR Expert Group Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Strategic Stability

From 8 to 10 June 2026, Jiang Tianjiao, a researcher at the Center for Global AI Innovative Governance (CGAIG), visited Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in a new round of the Expert Group Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Strategic Stability hosted by the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) at the Palais des Nations, where he delivered a presentation.The Expert Group brought together scientific and technological experts, as well as legal and policy specialists, from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, India, South Africa, Mexico and other countries, reflecting broad geographic representation and professional expertise.



Over the coming period, the Group will conduct continuous monitoring and horizon scanning of global trends in emerging technologies and develop a dedicated database. Its work will focus on the implications of artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, space–air integrated networks, hypersonic technologies, uncrewed systems, small modular reactors and microreactors, and advanced materials for global strategic stability and non-proliferation. Participating experts held in-depth discussions on how to identify relevant technologies and establish long-term monitoring indicators.During the workshop, Jiang also exchanged views with experts from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), and the Simon Institute for Longterm Governance.
