
Lampros STERGIOULAS is UNESCO Chair of AI and Data Science for Society and professor of Data Science at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, where he leads the Data Science research group in the Faculty of IT & Design. Previously, he has been chaired professor in Business Analytics at the University of Surrey Business School and in Computer Science at Brunel University London (Southern England). He is also a member of the Technical Advisory Group on AI for Health at the World Health Organisation (WHO). He is also a distinguished expert and project evaluator for the European Commission in the fields of AI, data science, and research ethics. Prior to his current roles, he served as Chair in Business Analytics at Surrey Business School and Chair in Computer Science at Brunel University London. His academic work focuses intensely on the social applications of advanced technologies. He has published over 200 scientific papers, led more than 30 international cross-disciplinary research projects, and coordinated four major European collaborative research initiatives. His research spans applied AI, health informatics, data-driven urban and management innovation, system modeling and simulation, and the ethical governance of digital technologies. He holds Masters' degree in Informatics and Physics from the University of Athens, and an MSc (ENG) and PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Liverpool, UK.
