
Daniel FILMUS is a distinguished Argentine sociologist, educator, and public policy leader. He currently serves as Director of the Ibero-American Center for Research in Science, Technology and Innovation (CIICTI). He served as Argentina's Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation from 2021 to 2023, and previously as Minister of Education, Science and Technology under President Néstor Kirchner, where he played a leading role in advancing national science and education policy. He also served as a National Senator for the City of Buenos Aires and as a Member of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies.In academia, he is an independent researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) and a tenured professor at the University of Buenos Aires. He served as a member of the UNESCO Executive Board from 2007 to 2011 and received the UNESCO Jan Amos Comenius Medal in 2008 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to educational research and innovation. He holds a degree in Sociology from the University of Buenos Aires and a Master's degree in Education from Fluminense Federal University in Brazil, and a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires.
