On the afternoon of October 20, 2026, the Center for Global AI Innovative Governance (CGAIG) specially invited Moona Ederveen-Schneider, a lecturer at the University of Cambridge and founder of the consulting firm Resilia Connect, to give an expert lecture titled “Beyond the Binary: The Art of Navigation in AI — The Mirror, the Shadow, the Maze.” The lecture was moderated by Yao Xu, Secretary-General of CGAIG and Associate Professor at the Development Institute, Fudan University.

Amandeep Singh GILL, United Nations Under-Secretary-General, hold that AI is about more than economic value; it concerns equity, justice, development and human dignity. Countries can participate in the intelligent age with dignity only when they possess genuine understanding and capability.

Our purpose is not to optimize machines; our purpose is to advance human flourishing.

DANIL Kerimi, Vice-Chair of the Independent Advisory Oversight Committee of the World Intellectual Property Organization, hold that Discussions should therefore consider not only how AI will reshape industries and societies, but also how industries, institutions and social environments will shape the future development of AI.

Seydina Moussa NDIAYE, Director of the ALIVE AI Living Lab for Innovatve, and Viable Ethical Policies and Systems at Cheikh Hamidou Kane Digital University, hold that When countries have widely different AI capabilities, formal participation alone cannot produce a fair dialogue. The network's first responsibility is to help less-resourced countries develop the ability to understand, build and govern AI so that they can participate meaningfully in future international discussions.

GOLESTAN (Sally) Radwan, Chief Digital Officer of the United Nations Environment Programme, hold that sustainable AI can be understood as an equation balancing inputs and outputs. On one side are the resources involved in developing and operating an AI model or system, including electricity, water, critical minerals and the electronic waste produced in the process. On the other side are the economic, social and environmental benefits that AI generates.

LAMPROS Stergioulas, UNESCO Chair on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Society, hold that responsible AI has not yet been fully achieved. The central obstacle is that AI governance remains largely at the level of principles and conversations and has not yet been translated into systematic implementation and scaled adoption.
